Ok, here’s the deal.
We are running a preorder campaign here. You might have heard about this phenomenon from Kickstarter or some other crowdfunding pages. Teams have an idea, they make a video about it and they post a project on Kickstarter. Then they raise several hundreds of thousands of dollars with the promise to deliver the product in a year or so. Then they start working on the idea, developing, finding manufacturers etc. Then they break that promise and deliver the products after 2 years or never. Kickstarter thinks this is fine and relieves them of all liability.
We on the other hand think that this is not fine. Our preorder campaign is much different. We have been developing the LACEnano for the past two years. We tested it with many tattoo artists. And only now, that we have the final machine in our hands and after it has been put thru many hours of tattooing are we bringing it to you.
The reason for bringing it to market via a preorder is because the cost of manufacture. If we make a small quantity like a couple dozen machines, the parts cost alone would be much more than 1000€ per machine. We think that none of you are prepared to pay that much, so we are bringing the cost down for you by running this preorder campaign.
Ok, I get it; you have to have a big enough quantity to get the price down, but why do I have to wait until August. Can’t you make them in two weeks?
Well… No, no we can’t. We can sure assemble them in two weeks, but our suppliers take time to make and deliver the parts. One or two months of time that is. You have to remember that the only off the shelf items on the LACEnano are the connectors and bearings. Everything else is custom and has to be made to order, even the brushless motor. This is not just another tattoo machine.
So we are running the preorder until the end of May and it is only then, that we will know, how much parts we have to order. Then we have to order them from our suppliers, they have to make them, send them to us, we have to assemble them, test them and ship them to you.
Even so; this deadline that we set in August has been set very conservatively. If everything that can go wrong goes wrong we will still ship the LACEnano to you in August. Even if half of us get hit by a bus. We don’t want to be the company that promises to deliver something in three weeks and then doesn’t.
You will get your LACEnano shipped to you in August at the latest, you have our word.
